Show Notes
Christopher J. Miller: "First of all, I'd like to say that I was chosen to play drums for Knowledge. It may be the greatest experience of my life. Rocking on stage with the greatest band of all time while they pour beers and vodka down your throat. All in all, pretty much the greatest show I've ever been to. They played a shitload of songs, including a couple that I hadn't heard live before. Requests were taken for a little bit. Imperial Death March and At The Library, Going To Pasalacqua, and 2,000 Light Years Away. Tre burnt the drumkit at the end. Actually, it was before Macy's Day Parade and they set up a new set right after."
Unknown: "This was my 5th Green Day show so I pretty much knew what to expect. I knew the band would put on an awesome show. The Nautica Stage is located on the Cuyahoga River near Lake Erie and it is an outside arena, it's a smaller arena so it's a great place to see a punk show. There is a pit area and bleachers for those lazy asses who want to sit down. The Living End was a great opening band. Unfortunately, not many people knew their songs so most of the crowd just stood around, however they did form a nice moshing section. They sang about 7 or 8 songs for 1/2 hour. Then after a set change of about 30 min. Green Day came on! The Warning banner came up and the lights and sirens came on and out came the boys. The crowd went nuts. Billie was wearing his usual black and blue striped t-shirt, Mike was wearing a doo-rag on his shaved head and Tre was wearing a Green Day t-shirt. They opened up with "Nice Guys Finish Last" and then Billie Joe welcomed the Cleveland crowd to the show and made fun of the kids up on top of a nearby building who didn't pay to see the show. Then they went into "Castaway", "Church On Sunday" and many more! Later, Billie went onto take requests from the crowd. Luckily, we had a cool crowd who requested old shit from "Kerplunk". They played requests for "Going To Pasalaqua" because some kid had on a 'Pasalaqua or Bust' t-shirt, followed by "At The Library" and "2,000 Light Years Away". Some kid even requested "The Imperial Death March" which the trumpet and trombone players played. It was cool. Another unexpected part of the show was when Billie Joe played "The Ballad of Wilhelm Fink" which was on a little music compilation cd. Of course, "Knowledge" was played and Billie invited a drummer, a bass player, and a guitar player from the crowd to finish the song. The drummer was good but the other two weren't spectacular (but I'm sure they were nervous). The bass player was the same kid who played for them in January's Akron, OH show, bastard!! In the middle of "Hitchin' A Ride" Billie started moaning and saying stuff like "tickle my ass" and said something like, this is where the orgasm starts and it doesn't end for an hour and a half! Throughout the show the band played some cover songs like Cheap Trick's "Surrender" and some Ozzy shit. Billie asked the crowd if we wanted them to play some Linkin Park and everyone said "noooooo!" and he said if you piss us off we'll play it, we can play that shit all day, it was funny. During "King For A Day" Billie sported a crown and the 2nd guitar player, Jason White (from the Influents) wore an ugly green wig and a huge necklace (I guess that was cross-dressing) and the trumpet player was wearing a black tank top and a pink tutu it was not a pretty site (he was fat!). The boys finished their first set with "Waiting" and then followed with a five song encore. After "When I Come Around" Tre burned his drums and Mike smashed his bass. Then the confetti flew over the crowd. Tre set up another small drum set in front so the band could finish up the show with "Macy's Day Parade". Throughout the show there were three different Green Day banners at the back of the stage, a Warning banner, and two different banners that said Green Day. It was yet another amazing Green Day performance. I didn't stick around afterwards to try and meet them because it was late and we had a long drive ahead of us, plus I am seeing them again on Tuesday in Pittsburgh, PA so we will meet them then ."
