Show Notes
David: "hey, I was at the asbury park show last night, and my god, it kicked some major fuckin ass! The Living End was great, but nothing compared to Green Day. They did about a 2 hour set. You could tell they were totally into it and excited. The audience was crazy but friendly, and i got my ass kicked in the pit. It was a 10+ show, and the boys did like 2 or 3 encores. Tré didn't burn his drum set, but he didn't need to after that amazing show."
Shar: "I went to the Green Day Concert in Asbury Park, NJ on June 26th, 2001. That was by far the best concert I have ever been to. Not only was the music itself great, the guys were so cool. Those guys are so awesome. I arrived at the concert about an hour and a half early and when we finally got in I bought a green day t-shirt. Then we sat down in seats and watched the opening act, All Living End. They were pretty good. After that Green Day opened up with, "Nice Guys Finish Last" and everyone went crazy. During the second song we decided to go down into the huge crowd of fellow crazed fans. Within 2 minutes we were in the middle of the moshpits and we were up crowdsurfin. It was awesome. Green Day always puts on the best show and that will always be the best concert I have seen and will ever see."
Courtney: "A whole group of us from Pennsylvania went to see Green Day on June 26 and we left at 8 AM. We got there at around 11Am and waited about 7 hours for the doors to open! We were almost first in line and I everyone else but me and my group were getting Billie and Mike autographs so I was a little discrouraged. That was until me and my boyfriend decided to take a walk out to his truck. As we were walking 2 girls were screaming and I look in front of me and saw Tre walking right towards me! He was about 2 feet away from me and I couldn't bring myself to say anything! But I was happy. Later, we heard and saw them praticing in the convention hall. The show itself was sooo awesome they really did great. Even my boyfriend said they were awesome. I'm looking forward to more Green Day shows...that was only my 1st one in the 8 years that I have been a huge Green Day fan. :) Then maybe my ultimate dream of meeting them will come true."
Matt: "What can I say about a show that i've been waiting about seven years to go to. It wasn't going to be the same as warped tour (although that's a whole different story and a very long review). It was the most amazing one i've ever been to. I went with my friends, Glen, joe and scott and we all got there at 12 in glen's car. we weren't gonna sit in line for the next 7 hours so we did some walking around and found ourselves at the hotel that the bands were staying at. we got kicked out about 4 times and each time we were threatened more and more by the security guards. we had found out what floor they were on and the hallway that they were in. so we sat outside the hotel and joe decided to go and try again. while we're sitting there a little kid runs around the corner right infront of us and I stare a him for a minute and then i'm like, hey, thats his kid and then we look up and billie joe walks right in front of us and he's pushing a stroller with his other son, jacob, in it. so me, scott and glenn are like whoa, whats up and we shook his hand and stuff and talked to him for a minute and then he's like well, i'm gonna go inside now and then he did. It was the coolest thing thats ever happened cuz no one else was around and we werent like bothering him for an autograph or pictures or anything like other people would've been. But I really didnt know what to say to him and I was upset about that. I mean, I can't even count the times i've had a conversation with billie joe by myself in the shower or something, and then I finally meet him and I can't think of a damn thing to say. Just as soon as billie walks inside joe walks out of the hotel, he must have walked right past him, and we told him who we just saw. joe was mad. but later scott helped him get an autograph when billie came out again and there was a bunch of other people there. The show was awesome, I was dead center in the very front with only one person in front of me. The Living End was awesome but they shouldn't have put like 10 minute solos into each song so then they could've fit a few more in. But they were really good, I had been waiting since warp tour 99 to see them again. the drummer kept looking at me which was cool and at the end chris cheney threw his guitar pick and it bounced off my head. I'm such an idiots. Then green day came on and they were awesome. I couldn;t even tell you the set list but towards the end billie played the ballad of wilhem fink and I was like the only person around me that knew the words. They took a few requests, one of them was JAR which I was stoked about. For the requests everyone started shouting 86 and Billie was like, come on, dont tell me you wanna hear the same shit those assholes up in boston wanted to hear. I didnt get picked for knowledge, but some kid like 4 people down from me did. That's ok though, the kid did a good job. At the end we went home and the whole ride back we were talking about the show. That really was the best show ever. I can't wait until the next one."
