Show Notes
Laura: "First off I was really excited to see Green Day, but unfortunalty I'm from Chicago and had to travel 2 hours with my friend to get to her uncle's in Madison. When we finally got there The Get Up Kids were already playing so I went to the merchandise counter while it was empty and bought 3 shirts a windbreaker and (stupid to buy at the beginging: a program) after I had put on all the clothes so I dont lose any of it I stuffed the program up my shirt. My friend and I made it to the second row by the time the Get Up Kids were done, they did an alright job, not as much energy as you would get if you saw them on their own tour, which had done before becuase I like them. The set change took forever, Ive never in my 18 year old life experienced as much pain as i did for that 40 minutes. The crowd in the back kept pushing and we were all just frozen in our spots. Even though I was in the 2nd row I couldnt see anything when they came on. All i remember is the lights going out a siren going off and orange lights flashing everywhere, hence the name of the album "Warning". They broke out into Nice Guys Finish Last and the crowd went nuts I couldnt even feel my feet on the ground I was knocked around so much. The first few songs were a blur becuase I was stuck in hell getting the shit kicked out of me. I know Im short and skinny but I can usually hold my own at concerts. I think the next few songs were Castaway and Blood, Sex, Booze. Somewhere in that period I thought i was gonna die so i was screaming "get me out!" some dude behind me heard me and saw the danger I was in probably looked like I was gonna pass out, which I almost did. So i got lifted in the air and for the first time in my life crowd surfed! It was the coolest thing I could actually SEE the band and how packed the place was, heads everywhere, it was one of the neatest sites Ive ever seen. They continued to play songs like Geek Stink Breath (I love how Billie and Mike jump up and down together at the begining). Longview, Hitchin a Ride, Welcome to Paradise. They took a crowd request which was the great song JAR, Brat, Brainstew, Jaded, but Platypus is the song that made the crowd go nuts. Everyone was moshing and losing it, it was damn great. Throughout the concert i couldnt get enough of my new found love of crowd surfing. however one time i made it from the back all the way to the front when the young asshole guard plucked me from the crowd and put me between the crowd and the stage and told me to go out (and then you can go back into the crowd.) when he took me from the crowd my program fell out of my shirt and i bent down to pick it up. he yelled at me and i asked nicely for my program. he yelled at me again so i yelled at him. Then i thought to myself "Laura youre right in front of Billie Joe, why arent you looking at him while youre so close?" so i look over and hes actually watching whats going on (probably heard me yelling) then the asshole guard took my program and threw it to the crowd! what an asshole! that thing cost me ten bucks, then he pushed me again and as he did Billie Joe kinda chuckled becuase i pushed him back and left. Oh it was great and sucked at the same time, i had to buy another program. Then they played 2000 Light years away and then the famous Knowledge. Tre, Mike, and Billie picked 3 people from the crowd to come up and play while Billie sang. I think he even kissed one of the guys from the crowd. they all stage dived at the end while they broke into Basket Case. then they played minority, she, and king for a day. it was great because Billie came out with a crown on his head and they had some dudes play the horn section for King for a Day, it was awesome! throughout the show Billie entertained the crowd with talk of sex, and having fake orgasims with his guitar and spraying everyone with water and beer. When they came back for several encores they played warning, good riddance, FOD, waiting (my new favorite), when i come around, and macys day parade. Tre did a good job demolishing his drum set while the other 2 sprayed the crowd with water and beer. I had a great time, but when i found my friend she looked dead she was all bruised and bleeding, apparently she got pushed to the ground and stepped on a lot. that sucks, but hey, i had a great time! plus its a funny site to see a big dude with a mohawk cry during the encore songs. and this time on the new tour i actually get to see them in Chicago, and Milwaukee(hehehe) GREEN DAY RULES!!!!!! "

Danielle: "HELLO!!!!!! i just got back from goin to the Greenday concert in Milwakee and Madison and let me tell you they were the 2 best concerts I've ever seen in my life!!!!! GreenDay was awesome! I'll start with the concert in Milwakee. I was in the very front row right in front of the band and i couldn't take it anymore and eventually passed out but when i woke up i could still see them perfectly. So by the time GreenDay came out i was okay so i moshed my way to the front. Billie was terrific. He kept the crowd goin and everyone was so into it. Billie walked right straight up to me and my friend and squirted beer all over us.It was so cool. i have to say that the concert was definaltly the best I've seen by them. The concert in Madison was actually just the same as the other except Billie ended with Macy's Day Parade. He also, once again, had multiple fake orgasms on stage which was oh so sexy. Both of these concerts were sooooooo awesome. It totally made my year and when they come to Chicago you can bet i'll be there"

Adam: "I'm Adam. I recently saw Green Day in Madison, Wisconsin on 01/25/01, and let me tell you, it was the best damn show I've seen yet! The Get Up Kids were pretty good, they played for like 45 minutes. I didn't recognize any songs, (not a big fan of 'em), but when they started the "smells like teen spirit" riff, the crowd went absolutely ape-shit for like 15 seconds. The lead singer later said, "we're Nirvana, from Seattle. It's been a while..." So, after a half hour set change, the crowd was gettin' a little antsy, but then the lights went out, and on came green day... They started with "Nice Guys Finish Last", and you could tell the crowd was totally pumped. They went right into "Castaway" and "Blood, Sex, and Booze", it fuckin rocked. They played a few more, then Billie asked what we wanted to hear. This is where the night became truly memorable for me. I was in the front row the whole show, and i the crowd was screaming requests. Billie looked at me, and i spelled out "J.A.R." with my fingers the best i could. Billie said something like, "What? J? Jar?...ok, we'll play that..." My heart jumped, and they went right into it! Billie stared at me the whole song, and i sang with him throughout it. When the song was over, Billie said "Thats the first time we've played that on this whole tour." I thought the night couldn't get any better....I was wrong. They played "Christie Road" next, followed once again by Billie Joe sayin, "that's the first time we've played THAT song on this tour!" More kick ass songs followed, like "Hitchin' a Ride, Brain Stew/Jaded, Longview (during which Billie wore one of his famous scary masks). Then came the highlight of my night. They began "Knowledge", and in the middle, they did their routine "making the band" bit. I was dying to get on stage. It took em a while to find a good drummer, then Mike approved of a bassist, and when Billie Joe came over to the left side of the crowd, where i was, I went nuts. He finally looked at me again, and asked, "You can play guitar?? You swear to God?" At this time i was frantically screaming "I swear!!" He finally told security to pull me out, and when i got up on the stage, I finally realized that there were more people packed in that place than I thought. I was freaking out! I looked back at Tre and Mike, and before i knew what was happenin', Billie grabbed my face and nailed me with a kiss. (ok, we're both guys, but it's all good...) Damn him, he caught me off guard. The crowd seemed to like that, anyway, he told me to pay attention, but i knew the chords already. He kept grabbing me by the face and saying, "alright, listen to me." I put on the sacred "BJ" guitar, holy shit i was in heaven. The three of us kids played the rest of "knowledge" while Billie sang. I got a few guitar picks, then the three of us did the honorary stage dive. That moment alone made it the best night of my life! They finished (almost) with "Minority", then came back out for an encore of "Warning, Good Riddance, F.O.D., Waiting, and When i come around" At the end Tre smashed his shit up, and we knew it was all over, but SURPRISE! "Macy's Day Parade" rang out, and Tre played what was left of his drums while Billie's friend played acoustic guitar. This dude also played on "Platypus, Jaded, Minority, Warning, and King for a Day" too, I forget his name, it's like Jason White or something. The night had ended, and it was the best performance I've seen yet. If you ever get a chance in the future, go see Green Day. It's worth any price, you'll love it, they are not only the best band, but they put so much energy into everything, it would take too many pages to describe it all, and this is long enough already, so i'm done."
