Show Notes
Cathi Walker: "Green Day did play a Milwaukee show after 1995. I know because I chaperoned a former co-worker's 15-year-old daughter and her friends at a Green Day show - the Get Up Kids opened. They played the Eagles Ballroom (or the Rave), and I stood in the way back, by all of the other lame parents and adult-types (I was 25-ish). I was only co-workers with that person from 1998-2000, so the show would have been during that time period or possibly later, since I stayed friends with my former co-worker after I left the company."
Shari: "First of all, this was 4th Green Day so I was expecting it to be great, but it was definately the best show I've ever been to! The Get Up Kids opened up for them and I've never had a chance to check out their music but they were really good live and they seemed to have a lot of fans there which was cool. They played for about 45 minutes. Then after about a 1/2 hour set change, Green Day hit the stage. The crowd went crazy when the lights went down and they hit the stage. Billie, Mike, and Tre all looked adorable. Billie was wearing a black t-shirt and black pants, and his hair was black with blonde tips, very sexy. They opened up with Nice Guys Finish Last. I was stuck in the pit and it was getting too rough for me so me and my friend went over to the left hand side (BJ's side) and we could actually see very well so we stayed there, where it was safe. They followed with Castaway, followed by Blood, Sex, & Booze. They played a lot of stuff off of Warning, which was great. They played only one song off of Kerplunk, 2,000 Light Years Away, and the rest of the songs were from Insomniac and Dookie. I was hoping for more older songs. Billie took requests for a couple of songs. Okay, so during the show a lot of awesome things happened. He looked up at the folks in the balcony and made everyone do the wave. About 45 minutes into the show, in the middle of Hitchin' A Ride, Billie Joe was making some moaning sounds and said "This is where you learn how to fuck" and he also mentioned that we were going to have an 1 hour and 45 minute orgasm (meaning the rest of the show). Throughout the show Billie Joe soaked the crowd with bottles of water and his Super Soaker water gun. Billie Joe was showing everyone that he would play rock music better than most rockers. He put down Limp Bizkit and said they were a bunch of assholes (or something). It was great! In the beginning of Longview he wore a very scary looking Monster mask. Also, during King For A Day, he wore a crown for the whole song, Jason played guitar for that one. (Jason is Billie's buddy from Pinhead Gunpowder, he has been touring with them playing 2nd guitar). The band played 1/2 of Operation Ivy's Knowledge and then brought up 3 kids from the crowd to play their instruments to finish the song. Billie picked a drummer, Mike picked a bass player, and Billie picked a guitar player. They played the rest of the song while Billie Joe sang it. Everyone was very good. Then they stage dived back into the crowd. Every song was played with such intense enthusiasm that it was such a great show. The crowd was into the band 100%. Minority was a total crowd pleaser. That was the last song before the encore. The band went back stage for a couple of minutes and then came back out to finish the show. They started the encore with Good Riddance. The crowd was swaying back and forth with lighters in the air. Following that was "Warning". It was great to hear that song live. They then played Waiting. Tre messed up his drums a little bit but not so much that he couldn't play Macy's Day Parade or the last song. Macy's Day Parade was the next to the last song. Everyone was just standing around, swaying, and listening to how beautiful it was because you can't really mosh to that song. Then, the last song came...it was When I Come Around which had everybody up and jumping. At the end, Billie Joe said this was the best show they've ever played in Milwaukee and then they left the stage. It was very intense and a wonderful Green Day experience."
Danielle: "HELLO!!!!!! i just got back from goin to the Greenday concert in Milwakee and Madison and let me tell you they were the 2 best concerts I've ever seen in my life!!!!! GreenDay was awesome! I'll start with the concert in Milwakee. I was in the very front row right in front of the band and i couldn't take it anymore and eventually passed out but when i woke up i could still see them perfectly. So by the time GreenDay came out i was okay so i moshed my way to the front. Billie was terrific. He kept the crowd goin and everyone was so into it. Billie walked right straight up to me and my friend and squirted beer all over us.It was so cool. i have to say that the concert was definaltly the best I've seen by them. The concert in Madison was actually just the same as the other except Billie ended with Macy's Day Parade. He also, once again, had multiple fake orgasms on stage which was oh so sexy. Both of these concerts were sooooooo awesome. It totally made my year and when they come to Chicago you can bet i'll be there"
