Tim: "Me and my sister drove to Austin from Kendalia. We got to Austin at about 8:00. We drove up right when the Get Up Kids were going on, but we spent about 20 minutes looking for a place to park. Finally, we went in and caught the last 15 minutes of the GUK set. After 20 minutes, the crowd was going wild. People were already floating, the the police sirens came on, and a crowd surfer kicked me in the head, when I looked up, Billie Joe was onstage 'shushing' the audience. They broke into Nice Guys Finish Last, then into Castaway. They went through 7 songs without a break. After Welcome To Paradise a girl was shouting that it was her birthday, she was 18. Billie said, 'Well, we don't have any songs about being 18, but this is close enough,' as he started into Coming Clean. After working the crowd, during Hitchin' A Ride, Billie said, 'OK, this is where the orgasm begins, and it doesn't stop for another hour and a half, y'all,' as they finished the song. During 2,000 Light Years Away Billie Joe brought out his super soaker, and his horn section. Now, it was time for Knowledge, Green Day played half of it and then asked who wanted to finish it. I've been playing guitar since I was 8 (9 years). So I tried my hardest, he actually asked me, but then went on to someone else. The guy they got to play drums was good, while he was playing, Tre poured beer into his mouth. The girl they got to play bass was a washout, so the got someone else, she was good. I've never seen Billie do this before, but he picked a guy out of the balcony, he jumped down and floated all the way to the stage. I met him after the show, he was pretty cool. After they finished their set, I knew they were going to do an encore, so I got out of the crowd to let all the drunks out. When I looked beside me, Green Day was about five feet away from me, waiting to go back onstage. I waved and Billie reached out to shake my hand, but a roadie pushed him back onstage, that pissed me off, oh well. After their six-song encore, they left stage. We went to wait outside (it was freaking cold). After a while, Tre came out, looked at us, and got on the bus (that pissed me off too). I think it was the Get Up Kids' bus because I never saw Billie Joe, or Mike get on. When the bus passed Tre looked out the window and pointed to his wrist (like a watch, saying they didn't have any time to talk), but that was bullshit, because he had benn in the bus for about twenty minutes. When the bus took off, I saw Jason White, the horn players, and Tre. We figured that Billie and Mike were not going to come out so we left. We wasted two hours for nothing. But it was the best concert I've ever been to."
Kristen: "I flew out to Austin on Jan. 13 and as we were driving to the hotel (Radisson) me and my friend Bryan joked about how funny it would be if Green Day stayed at our hotel. Well, when we got to the hotel, we say these two tour buses and were like how strange..... So we went to the front desk and asked who they were for and they hesitated and said "a basketball team." We didnt believe them and did some research and it turned out to be their bus. Anyhow, we were walking through the lobby and we saw Tre. He was really nice and we took pictures with him. Then he left and we were all excited. Then we went out to visit him next to the tour buses and talked for like 2 more min. After that we went back into the lobby and were sitting in front of the main enterence when I saw a white van pull up in front of the hotel. A guy with a jacket that said 'security' or 'police' got out and then I saw blond spikey hair get out and I was like" Oma! Its him!! Its Billie!!" So we ran outside and me like an idiot couldnt say anything so Bryan called his name. he didnt hear the first time and so he called him again and then he turned around and Bryan asked if we could take pix and he said ya. He was in a rush so we didnt like bother him or anything. Then like 2 hours later we left for the concert and it was awesome They played for like 2-2.5 hours. At one point Billie put on the scary masky thing and was singing but then he took it off, which was good bc you couldnt see his face when he had it on. He was joking around and he sang Creed for like 30 sec....they played a bunch of songs from the new album......Blood, sex and booze, Castaway, Waiting, Macys day parade, Minority. They also played Time of your life, Welcome to Paradise, Platypus, and a bucnh of others that I cant remember. And that was my Green Day experience :)"
