Show Notes
8sPOT: "My first real concert. Was a big Green Day fan and Nimrod had just been released. Them and Foo Fighters just rocked the place. Also saw Matt Good Band, Sloan, The Tea Party and Hole (Courtney Love lifted her shirt up, sweet deal for a 14 year old). This was also my first experience in a pit-type setting, loved it."

Meridian007: "I saw Green Day in 1998 at Edgefest in Ottawa. Halfway through their set, Billie Joe called out for a 'fuckin' good guitarist' from the crowd. After much debate amongst the people at the front, a teenage kid (probably about 16 or so) was pushed up on stage, Billie Joe gave him his guitar, and the kid played for 3 or 4 songs! This concert changed my mind about Green Day, I thought they were a bunch of posers before this, but they proved that they can rock, and are nice guys as well!"

Heather: "It was totally worth driving from Buffalo, NY to Barrie, Ontario to see Green Day play at Edgefest 98'. This was the fifth time I've seen the band, 4th time on the Nimrod tour. Green Day went onstage at 7:15, a little while after the Foo Fighters set. I got to watch the show from a little balcony thing on the side of the stage. I didn't miss a thing. The band opened with "Nice Guys Finish Last". I don't really remember the order of the songs but they also played: Hitchin a Ride, Geek Stink Breath, Brainstew, Jaded, Knowledge, Basket Case, Longview, Welcome to Paradise, When I come Around, King for a Day, Good Riddance, and part Sabbath's "Iron Man". I probably missed a couple songs, but the set was shortened anyhow. Billie stripped down to his leopard print underwear during "King for a Day" and played "When I Come Around" in them too. Millions of people were trying to climb onstage, and after the show Mike told me they crowd surfed a dude in a wheel chair up on stage. I didn't see it, but I believe you, Mike. I also got to watch Tre work his drum roadie's ass off. I got to watch Tre play catch with drumsticks with Timmy Chunks, the guitar roadie. Billie was campaigning to be mayor of Toronto, saying that there would be a six pack in every refrigerator, and drugs would be legalized. I had a great time at the show, even with the toxic fumes of Tre's burning drumset. I had an even better time, after the show, when I got to talk to the band. I got lotsa pics, a hug from Billie Joe and Mike, a pick from Mike, and a kiss on the cheek from Billie. I also had a really great conversation Billie, and if he reads this, or Adrienne, or anyone, I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for being so nice to me. It meant the world. I was the girl with JINX written on my knuckles."
