Show Notes
Oh, the Concerts I Have Seen: "This was a really fun show as there were a lot friends there that we ran into during the show. Green Day was the musical highlight of the day for me. The drummer went nuts at the end of the set, kicked holes in his drum, knocked the entire drum kit to the ground then poured lighter fluid all over it and set it on fire. As flames soared from the drum kit Billie Joe came out with an acoustic guitar, sat down in front of the fire and played a solo acoustic version of Good Riddance. That was amazing but the most memorable thing that happened that day was late afternoon when dark clouds of thick black smoke started pouring out of the parking lot entrance area. It turned out that one of my best friends' car overheated while they were waiting to get into the parking lot, it caught fire and literally burnt up before the fire trucks could even get there. In true 'my friends' fashion once they realized there was nothing they could do to help with the fire they came into the show. I took them home after the show and they dealt with the car drama the next day. God, I loved being young and dumb."
"Me and four of my friends went to see Green Day at the Hershey Park Pavillion. We got there around 5:00 and there was about 100 people there. Cory Glover played first followed by Samiam. Samiam was pretty cool. Finally, around 7:35 Green Day ran on stage. About 3000 people crowded around. Billie Joe ran out to the very edge of the stage with a very weird look on his face and stood like a statue. One of little tents to side had been selling little rubber bouncy balls all night and the crowd threw a whole bunch up on stage. Billie Joe caught a few and threw them back. Then he screamed, "ALRIGHT HERE WE GO!" and they started into Nice Guys Finish Last followed by Hitchin' A Ride. Then Billie Joe switched guitars and said, " Oh my god, I think I just shit my pants. How many people have shit their pants before? This next song is about shitting your pants!" and they went into Geek Stink Breath. When they played Knowledge, Billie Joe asked some 15yr old kid up on stage to play. When he got on stage, Mike said " hey look! It's Hanson!" everyone laughed. The kid did alright. At the end of the song, Billie Joe told the kid to look back at Tre Cool, but the kid kept smiling at the audience. Billie Joe yelled a couple more times before he heard him. Billie Joe jumped and the kid just stood there. Then Billie Joe jumped again and said " Jump! Damnit!" and the kid jumped and Tre Cool banged his cymbals to end the song but the kid forget to strum the guitar while he jumped So Billie Joe said " Just get the Fuck off the
stage!" and he made the kid stage dive. Mike yelled, " Don't catch him!" but the crowd did. Then they played Basket case. During King for a Day, Billie Joe took his pants off and waved his butt at the crowd and after they played When I come Around, Tre Cool burned his drum set and Mike burned his bass. Billie Joe sat in front of his cabinets with a gorilla mask on a made a lot of feedback. The destruction lasted about 15 minutes. Then Billie Joe played Good Riddance. Alot of people in the audience were waving lighters. My friends and I got banged up in the Mosh pit, but it was worth it. We stayed to watch the Bosstones play and they were good, but not nearly as good as GREEN DAY."
