Garret K. Woodward: "I've been truly lucky to see thousands and thousands of live concerts over the years, and, truth-be-told, my FIRST (real deal) concert (by myself) was Green Day. May 1998. I was 13 years old. My mom dropped me off at Memorial Auditorium in downtown Burlington, Vermont. Green Day was touring their landmark album Nimrod. As a nerdy-looking kid (coke bottle glasses and gel in my hair), who was 100 pounds soaking wet at that time, I wandered the old auditorium (a gymnasium) and found a seat way up on the wrap-around balcony. I watched the band destroy not only my eardrums, but also what I thought music was. They kickstarted something within me, where I found myself thinking, 'I want to always be around this feeling I have.' (Which was live music.) And, I've been on that quest ever since. So, thanks Billie Joe and Co."
Stephanie: "Wow what a concert. I love Green Day and the concert was awesome. I don't know all the songs they played but I remember the concert very
well. Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre run out everyone goes crazy. They start of with "Nice guys finish last" then "hitchin a ride" Billie joe joked around saying he was from Vermont, then he got out his satan mask and jokingly sang Marylinn Manson's "The Beautiful People". He then sang some more and stopped and took requests for songs people asked for metal so he played a little bit of a Mettalica song. Billie Joe and Mike would throw water at us and when he did you stopped and said "oh my god mike and billie joe just threw water on us" Billie Joe said Hi to my friend and I when we were close to him. The whole concert no one had bad seats or standing area. I was always 5 feet or closer to them. Billie Joe then got a kid to play guitar for a song. It took forever because he kept asking him a million questions but it was cool. Then He dove of the stage. Later He stripped to his leopard thong for "King for a day" the crowd went wild.I am not sure who the trombone players were either from "vodoo glow skulls", or "No Doubt".I am not sure which one. He then said " you know the ritual i go off
stage you scream for me to come back" He had us scream a bunch of swears but I don't remember exactly how we said it. Then he came back played a couple more and they trashed everything. It was awesome watching Tre just total his drums. He did not set them on fire though! Then Billie Joe came out and sang "Good Ridance" and said thanks and left. It was an awesome concert about an hour and a half around there. I really hope Green Day comes back to Burlington because I would love to go see them again.
