Show Notes
Todd: Green Day playing in Orange County, home of the Disneyland, Richard Nixon,
Bankruptcy and a Republican strong hold. For those unfamiliar with the Pond,
it's a couple miles down the street from Disneyland and across the Freeway
from Angel Stadium, It's home of the Mighty Ducks Hockey team.
Well the night started wrong we got our first rain in at least six months
so it was a wet drive. They frisked everybody going in saying
"You can only bring in, the clothes on your back, the Keys to your car
and Money" No beer was being sold. Plenty of bootleg T-shirts sold outside
for $10 and alot of people selling tickets or offering ticket upgrades
(I wussed out on the upgrades, I'd probably get busted or they'd be Bogus)
Inside the place looked half empty (I had read that it was sold out)
The show was suppose to start at 7:30 but the Hi-Five didn't start until after
8:00 and the seats were still nowhere near filled. The reaction to the
Hi-Five was OK, but they got their biggest applause when they said
"This is our last song" When the lights came on the placed had filled up
pretty well.
Green Day Kicked Ass, but the whole set was very predictable from all
the previous posts about what they have done on this tour.
They started out with Armatage Shanks and then Brat etc etc.
same order and songs as they've been playing.
BJ did say "It's Great to be back in California" But I couldn't make out
half of the shit he was say between songs.
Being in such nose bleed seats I had a great view of the whole Arena
lots of Moshing going on in the pits. There were two big ever changing
circles of moshers moving around the floor. There seemed to be alot of
Busts and altercations with Security going on in the back of the crowd
on the floor. Flash lights and yellow jackets all over the place.
I saw a number of guys tackled and taken down. The crowd started noticing
this and went wild, a few guys broke away from Security and all the Guards
keeping people off the floor moved in to help. At this point about 200
people decided they wanted to be on the floor and rushed down out of their
sets and stormed the floor. There was a vendor on the floor selling T-shirts
and stuff and it looked like people were nabbing shirts as they ran by.
Billy said something (shit I couldn't understand) and the Huge bright
lights on stage shone back and lit up the area were all this shit was
happening. It calmed down a bit and then they played Knowledge.
Billy got the crowd shout out Heeeeyyyy Oohhhhhhh, and Fuck you.
There were a few things thrown on stage a least two shoes and some clothes.
BJ squirted water on the crowd and then Jerked off with the Bottle and then
tried to simulate sucking himself with it. Mike looked like he had a new Bass.
Before F.O.D Billy took off "Blue" and started Playing a Black Stratocaster
which he later threw into the air and let drop on stage.
Tre came out and did his All by myself, Dominated Love Slave solo
Then WICA, and then 86 . At the end of 86 Mike shot Beer into the first
few rows while Tre was busy dissembling his Drum kit. They ended and
left the stage while Mikes bass lay on stage reverberating the last note
for a few minutes.
Great Show, The seats seamed mostly filled with pre-Ad's and young Teens
with a lot of Parents in tow. Alot of colored dye jobs and Pot smoking
everywhere. It was pouring outside when we got out. The place must have
been filled with drunks by the look of the parking lot, it was covered
with empty six packs and liquer bottles of all types.
Can't wait till next time.
