Mike Dubose: "I ate dinner with Billie Joe Armstrong and the rest of Green Day at Katz's Deli when they opened for Bad Religion in 1993. Awesome guys!"

Eddie: "I saw Green Day live in '93, right before Dookie came out (they were the opening act, Bad Religion was the headliner). Billie Joe explictly stated that Kerplunk! was the sound of a turd hitting the water in the toilet bowl. During the same bit of stage patter, he said that the venue - NYC's Roseland Ballroom - looked to him like a giant toilet bowl. The guy's got a one-track mind, I guess. It was a good show, though. In fact, as good as Bad Religion were that night, Green Day were even better, which was a surprise as I had never heard of them at the time. A few years later, I saw them live again and was less impressed: Billie Joe wasted way too much time on his stupid antics, like spitting in the air and trying to catch it. It got so bad that half the crowd was shouting, 'Play a fucking song!' He did some of that stupid stuff at the Bad Religion show too, but not nearly as much, probably due to their shorter alloted time."
