Billie Joe Armstrong: "Our friend/roadie Kaz Hope, suggested we call our song Longview because the first time we played the song was in Longview, Washington, in spring 1992."

tardcore: "I was way into Green Day when I was 16 or 17, especially when they came to Longview and played at the Cafè Forum and the crowd destroyed the place and it closed down the next week."

"The title of the song Longview by the rock band Green Day was inspired by the city. The pop-punk trio had several friends in the area due to frequent performances in Portland, Oregon. Often they would meet other punk acts from Longview who would open their shows for them. According to one concert's press agent, Jim Baltutis, Green Day played a show at a Longview club, the Cafè Forum, in the spring of 1992, which later inspired the title of the song."

TJ McNeely: "I saw them when they played Cafe Forum. It was like [Portland's] X-Ray Cafe but not so dirty. It's now Lite Weights for Women, a little exercise gym for ladies only. I know they also played this place called the Rainbow Tavern. Now it's just a screen print shop called Bigfoot. I didn't go to those, I was too young."

It was late 91 or early 92, and I didn't have a time/date stamp on the recorder because it was rented. There was no flyer as it was an impromptu show. They had played in Portland Or. with my friends' band The Jimmies and they brought them back to Longview. They where going to play at my house but my ex wife threw a fit about underaged girls being there and they moved the show to the Cafe Forum. Super small venue, that I doubt would have even held 100 people
