Show Notes
Incomplete setlist
"I saw Green Day in 1992 in the courtyard of Porter College in Santa Cruz with about 20-30 other people just laying out in the grass. The band hadn't sold out then either and were just awesome!"
Max: "Green Day, UC Santa Cruz, 1992. Pre-Dookie, when Green Day was just another Gilman Street band, they played outside our dorm at Porter College for some sort of end-of-the-year spring event."
lorelei: "I saw Green Day play in the Quad at Porter - there was almost nobody there to watch them, which is kind of funny when I think about it now."
rocky: "Heh, I was the sound engineer for that Green Day show. Aaron Cometbus was there! I did most of the sound for Porter events by the time '90 to '92 rolled around."
Helena: "I was at that Green Day show too. It was so mellow! Nice thing to do on a sunny weekend afternoon when you're hungover..."
Dave: "When I saw Green Day open for Samiam in the UCSC-Porter College quad, I never thought they'd be big."
Steve Koepke: "mar 7 sat Samiam, Green Day at U.C. Santa Cruz about 2pm (Porter College Five Quad)"
Jeffreyjomusic: "I saw them between "Kerplunk" and "Dookie" at UC Santa Cruz, College 8. They played on the mid-level concrete platform with their backs to the upper stairs where I sat. Billie Jo must have been playing wireless because in the middle of "Paradise", he came running from behind Tré, jumped, planted one foot directly on the snare and proceeded to leap and clear the drum set, hit the ground right in front of the mic, and shut out, "Welcome to Paradise". Raw. Spectacular. Committed. Soon to be one of the best things to come out of the 90s."
