Show Notes
"Most of faculty members hated Green Day and when Separate Ways came out they were like, 'Now that's more like it.'"
Mickey Estes: "Shortly after changing their name from Sweet Children to Green Day, the band performed at the annual Foreign Foods Day at Pinole Valley High School in Pinole, California. I filmed this on May 10, 1990. The quality is good because I used a professional quality Sony video camera - not a camcorder. Also I think Bob Yost filmed the show with his camera as well and those videos are also posted somewhere on YouTube. Judge's Daughter was written for K. Swagger, a classmate of mine whose dad was (is?) indeed a judge. Billie Joe had a crush on her although I don't think they ever went out. ...This is the last song [Road to Acceptance] of the first set. After this the another band called Separate Ways took the stage. Green Day retired to their van to for some 'herbal' tea. This second set was filmed by a couple classmates of mine. I filmed the second Green Day set using a conventional VHS camcorder. Yes, this is the second time that day that they played this At The Library. Who knows. The concert was played during lunchtime and there were two lunch periods. So maybe they were playing it for those who missed it the first time."
